DASH Study

Development and assessment of an HIV disclosure intervention for men in Uganda (DASH)

Purpose: The DASH study/project aims at exploring the particular HIV disclosure desires and needs of men with HIV (MWH) in resource-limited settings and then using the results to develop and pilot test a disclosure intervention. It’s aim is to address the current gap in HIV disclosure services among men, equipping them with skills and tools for disclosure while facilitating an enabling space for individual and partner health.

Key Activities

1. Qualitative interviews (Aim 1): Evaluate HIV disclosure needs and preferences of MWH via semi-structured interviews.

2. Intervention development (Aim 2): Adapt components of existing evidence-based interventions based on findings from Aim 1 and local cultural and gender norms.

3. Intervention testing (Aim 3): Pilot test the intervention with eligible MWH to establish feasibility and acceptability. Outcomes include HIV disclosure rates, partner HIV testing, and viral suppression among participants.
